About Me
JAN CAREY was born in Edinburgh and trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
In the West End: Spring and Port Wine, The Cherry Orchard, Pygmalion. Other theatres include the Orange Tree Theatre Richmond and outside London, Sheffield Playhouse, Sheffield Crucible, Mercury Colchester, Citizens Theatre Glasgow, Birmingham Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham Rep, Abbey Theatre Dublin, and the Stephen Joseph Theatre Scarborough.
Extensive television ranges from I Claudius to Downton Abbey and to Killing Eve. Film work includes A Man for all Seasons and The Whistle Blower. She has also given many words and music recitals.
Author, Composer, Soldier-of-a-sort is her first venture into writing and compiling - a solo performance which she has played at the Pleasance Edinburgh Fringe 2018, Buxton Fringe Festival, Wigtown Book Festival, King’s Head Theatre London, Stroud Book Festival.
Jan is Chair of The Theatrical Guild, a theatre charity founded in 1891 supporting all backstage and front of house theatre workers throughout the UK.
